Robert Charles Oakley, age 75, of Bonham, Texas, passed away August 16, 2009, in Bonham. Robert was born November 10, 1933 in McKinney, Texas to Jesse and Mildred (Blankenship) Oakley. He married Elsa Kay Stumpp on March 31, 1951 in Stuttgart, Germany. Robert grew up in McKinney and enlisted in the United States Army where he served two tours of duty during the Vietnam Conflict and retired in 1972. He was employed at Texas Instruments for over five years. Robert enjoyed playing golf and time with his family. He was also a member of Northside Church of Christ in Bonham. He is survived by his wife, Elsa “Kay” Oakley of Bonham, Texas; daughter, Kathy Shearer and her husband, Michael of Arlington, Texas; son, Eddy Oakley of Lamasco, Texas; granddaughter, Jessica Shearer of Austin, Texas; sister, Betty Curry and her husband, Johnny of Greenville, Texas; brothers, Dickie Oakley and his wife, Resa of Trenton, Texas and Ronnie Oakley and his wife, Mary Ann of Georgetown, Texas; several nieces and nephews and a host of other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe Oakley. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 21, 2009 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas.
