Robert Era "Bob" McCarley

Robert Era “Bob” McCarley, age 77, of Blue Ridge, Texas, formerly of Dallas, Texas, passed away April 28, 2008, at his home. He was born in McKinney, Texas, on October 13, 1930, the son of Era “Tip” and Kathryn (Miller) McCarley. He graduated from McKinney High School in 1949 and Texas A & M University where he played football all four years and earned degrees in Petroleum and Mechanical Engineering. Bob served his country in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division. He married Billie Clemons in Charlotte, North Carolina. He worked for McBee Operating Company for forty-four years where he was Vice President of Operations. Bob was a member of Richardson ISD School Board for nine years, was a former president of Engineer’s Club of Dallas, and was a member of First Christian Church of Richardson. He is survived by his wife, Billie; daughters, Jan Lanzillo and her husband, John of Rowlett, Cindy Williams and her husband, Richard of Blue Ridge, and Denise Naragon and her husband, Kim of Lewisville; grandchildren, Austin, Carrie, Jason, Kristi, Johnny, Bobby and Chance; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy Polk of McKinney; brother, Hugh McCarley and his wife, Carolyn of McKinney; brother, James McCarley and his wife, Jane of Plano; and sister, Annie McCarley of McKinney; nieces, Molly and Juli; nephew, Michael; and numerous great-nieces and nephews and others loving relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother-in-law, Garland Polk. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. The family will receive friends during a visitation at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home on Wednesday evening beginning at 6:00 PM. Memorials may be made to Scottish Rite Hospital, Blue Ridge Fire Department and ASPCA.
