Robert Lee Payton, age 53, of Little Elm, Texas, was born in Monroe, Louisiana, on August 16, 1970, to Gloria Payton James. Robert, affectionately known as “Big Rob”, graduated from Wossman High School in Monroe, Louisiana, and earned his bachelor's degree from Grambling State University. He had a successful career in the restaurant industry as a manager of Braum’s. He married the love of his life, Yolanda Michelle Brandon-Payton, in Monroe on August 17, 1996, and they were blessed with twenty-seven years of marriage and two children. Robert enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and the New Orleans Saints and spending time with his family. Robert was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, and friend. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him. Robert passed from this earthly life on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Payton James; his brother, Tommy Payton; his mother-in-law, Rhoda Brandon; his sister-in-law, Roshonda Brandon; and Great-Grandmother-in-law, Leola Brandon.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Yolanda Payton; his son, Xavier Payton of Little Elm; his daughter, Roshonda Payton of Little Elm; his grand-daughter, Autumn Wright of Dallas; his sister, Felicia Payton of Monroe; great-aunt, Betty Smith of Dallas; two uncles, Charles Dawkins of Blythe, CA and Steve Copeland of Monroe, LA; brother-in-law, Anthony Love of Washington, DC; three sister-in-laws, Crystal Payne of Euless, Shirley Neal of Monroe, and Danielle Black of Grand Prairie; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Berkshire Chapel, 9073 Berkshire Drive, Frisco, Texas, on Friday, December 15 2023, at 2:00 p.m.
