Robert L. "Bobby" “Grandad” Durham, 83, of Whitewright, Texas, passed away on September 28, 2024. He was born on October 24, 1940, to parents, Louis Henderson Durham and Thelma “Jo” (Brinlee) Durham. Bobby was born, raised and lived his entire life on the Durham Family Dairy Farm in the Desert Community, nine miles south of Whitewright.
He was a 1959 graduate of Whitewright High School where he was Co-Captain of the ’58 Tiger Football Team, served on the Whitewright ISD Board of Trustees, the Desert Water Supply Corporation Board and was a member of the Associated Milk Producers, Inc.
He married Linda Carol Murphy on December 18, 1970, in Whitewright.
Bobby eventually took over the family business from his parents, operating a Grade A Holstein dairy farm until 1998 when he sold the dairy business and went to work driving a concrete mixer truck for Lattimore Materials Company. In 2010 he began driving a bus for TAPs Public Transit, retiring in 2014.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Linda Durham of Whitewright, Texas; daughters, Denise Selman and husband Kelly and Donna Robinson and husband, Keller, all of Whitewright; grandchildren, Derek Rogers of Whitewright, Texas, Lane Selman and wife Amanda, also of Whitewright, Texas, Courtney Creech and husband, Clay of Rosharon, Texas, Braeden Pittman of Frisco, Texas, Keely Meyer and husband, Alex of Whitewright, Texas, and Natalie Watson and husband, Trevor, also of Whitewright; great-grandchildren, Oaklee Rogers, Hadlee Selman, Jentri Selman, Noah Watson, Maelee Creech, Walter Meyer, and Harriet Meyer; nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; L.H. and Jo Durham; brother, E.J. Durham; and sister, Judy Durham Wolfe.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Oak Hill Cemetery, 10948 FM 898, Whitewright, Texas 75491. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the graveside at the cemetery.
