Robert John Kiernan of Frisco, Texas passed away November 21, 2020 at the age of 87. He was born on April 20, 1933 to Robert John Kiernan, Sr. and Adele (Terien) Kiernan in Racine, Wisconsin.
Robert is preceded by his wife Constance Diane (Venturini) Kiernan and brothers, Patrick and Thomas Kiernan.
Robert earned a football scholarship to play at the University of Wisconsin as an Offensive Lineman. One of his goals was to play for the Green Bay Packers, but his country came calling in the early 1950’s at the start of the Korean War and he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
He married the late Constance Diane (Venturini) Kiernan on April 20, 1958 in Racine Wisconsin. After they married, they moved to Orlando, Florida and raised three children. Robert’s career involved many years at Martin Marietta, which he was instrumental in the Apollo Space missions. He kept his children up late that night when the first man landed on the moon in 1969! He was very proud to be a part of it. After the Apollo Space missions were scrapped, he continued on with Martin Marietta in the pursuit of a piece of swamp land in central Florida now known as Disney World. He always took his children in “the back way” to see the ultimate kids and parents’ paradise.
He was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Richardson, Texas.
Robert is survived by his children, Kim Shea (Bill) of Austin, Texas, Tim Kiernan (Leslie) of Frisco, Texas and Kevin Kiernan of Chandler, Arizona; grandchildren, Alexandra Stowers (Brian), Nick Kiernan (Cheyenne), Kelly Kiernan and Kassidy Kiernan; great-grandchildren, Avery Kiernan and Riley Kiernan; and a host of other loving family and friends from Wisconsin and beyond.
