Robert James Kellogg

Robert “Bob” James Kellogg of Fairview, Texas passed away February 21, 2020 at the age 84.  He was born on August 17, 1935 to Robert Warren Kellogg and Lois G. (Kistler) Kellogg in Augusta, Kansas. Bob grew up in Louisville, Kentucky where he graduated high school in 1953 from Valley High School. He graduated from the University of Louisville with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and earned a master’s degree in business administration from Indiana University. Bob married Sandra Mai Campbell on July 21, 1958 in Louisville, Kentucky. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 26 years retiring as a Colonel. He was in the service from December 13, 1958 to July 31, 1984. Bob received many decorations and medals: The Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with One Silver Oak Cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Three Bronze Service Stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross. After retirement, he played a significant role in the development of the Strategic Defense Initiative.

Bob loved sailing and owned a sailboat when they lived in Virginia.  He was an incredibly talented man who created beautiful stained-glass pieces including for his church, Christ Chapel in Virginia. He was an accomplished artist in many mediums including rug hooking, pottery, ceramics, and painting.  He was a true renaissance man.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sandra Kellogg of Fairview, Texas; daughter, Robyn Mead and husband, John of Allen, Texas; son, Robert Burns Kellogg and wife, Deirdre of Purcellville, Virginia; grandchildren, Kate Mead-Brewer and husband, Evan, John Michael Mead, Benjamin Kellogg and Andrew Kellogg; great-granddaughter, Makaylah Mead. As well as those close family members, Cheryl Cooch, Kristina Rosette, and Jayde Miller.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lois Kellogg.

Inurnment with full Military Honors will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
