Robert James Hannon

Robert James Hannon of Plano, Texas passed away September 23, 2021 at the age of 66.  He was born on February 24, 1955 to William F. Hannon and Mary Jane (Painter) Hannon in Crane, Texas.  Robert grew up in Crane and was a 1973 graduate of Crane High School.  Robert enlisted in the Unites States Army on September 9, 1974.  He was a Military Police Officer stationed in Germany twice, Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, and Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.  Robert was honorably discharged on June 9, 1978.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from The University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas.  He married Mary Elaine Parmer on March 11, 1989 in Odessa.  Robert worked for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, FDIC as a Senior Franchise Marketing Specialist for 37 years.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and traveling.  Robert loved to pass the time with singing, cooking, watching the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, and Texas Longhorns, and most of all, his family where his most important role was being a devoted husband and father. 

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Elaine Hannon of Plano, Texas; son, Robert Jerrod Hannon and fiancé, Madelyn of Richardson, Texas; brothers and sisters, Kevin Hannon and wife, Phyllis of Waxahachie, Texas, Kerry Hedgepeth and husband, Skip of Midland, Texas, Andrew Hannon and wife, Nancy of San Antonio, Texas, and Sean Hannon and wife, Cheryl of Salt Lake City, Utah; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The family will receive family and friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial with Military Honors will be held at 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations be made on Robert’s behalf to Disabled American Veterans Charity or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
