Robert Glen Ellis
September 10, 1950 – October 17, 2026
Robert Glen Ellis, known affectionately to all who knew him as Glen, age 76, passed away peacefully on the family farm in Merit, Texas, on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Born in Rockwall, Texas on September 10, 1950, to the late Robert Elden Ellis Jr. and Gloria Swanson (Pelton) Ellis, Glen was raised in religion and faith—values that shaped his character and guided him throughout his life.
A proud lifelong Texan, Glen spent ninety percent of his life in Wylie, Texas, where he grew up and graduated from Wylie High School. In his youth, he worked alongside his father hauling rock and helping construct Wylie's very first paved roads. That shared work ethic led them to co-found Ellis & Son Heating, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Inc. in 1972, servicing the Wylie and DFW metroplex for over 50 years. Dedicated to serving his community, Glen also served as a Captain for the Wylie Volunteer Fire Department. He later served as Lead Maintenance for Physicians Regional Hospital, which paved the way for his career with Steris Medical, installing specialized equipment for Steris Healthcare.
Throughout his life, Glen found great satisfaction, gratitude, and peace in operating heavy equipment and working the land, a lifelong passion born in his youth and carried through to his years on the family farm in Merit.
His greatest pride was his family, and his devotion to them remained deeply anchored in faith. His legacy endures through his children: his eldest daughter, Shannon Denise Pratt and her husband Eric (Sherman, Texas); his middle daughter, Teresa Lynn Crosby and her husband Jadon (Princeton, Texas); and his youngest son, Robert Glenn Ellis II, who resides on the family farm. Glen was also blessed with the warmth, affection, and enduring friendship of his long-term companion, Janet Parker (Farmersville, Texas). Janet was a dear and constant presence in his life and is considered family, along with her son, Stephen Parker.
He leaves behind a cherished family line of 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren: granddaughters Darci and Adelaide Ellis; granddaughters Stefany and Katelyn Crosby; granddaughter Whitney Estrada and her husband Ryan, along with great-grandchildren Brecken and Bennett (Celina, Texas); grandson Jonathan White and his wife Tori, along with great-grandchildren Cayden and Carsyn (Collinsville, Texas); and granddaughter Chloe Pratt (Sherman, Texas).
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Elden Ellis Jr. and Gloria Swanson Ellis; and his eldest sister, Sharon Taylor, and her husband, Larry Taylor and sister Quindland Ellis.
He is survived by his youngest sister, Janet Magee and her husband Les (Garland, Texas); his nieces and nephews, Shane Gracy, Eric Gracy, Micah Gracy, Danny Magee, Stefany Magee, Robert Taylor, Michael Taylor, and Edward Taylor; and extended family and friends who will remember his love, character, and the time and shared memories made together.
A Celebration of Life to Honor Glen will be held on the family property, Ellis Ranch, in Merit, Texas, on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family kindly asks for your continued thoughts and prayers. Your warmth, love, and shared memories during this time are the greatest comfort and gift of all.
