IN LOVING MEMORY

Robert M. Curry, Jr.

Nov 16 1949 - Nov 07 2014

Robert M. Curry, Jr. passed away Friday, November 7, 2014, nine days short of his 65th birthday, after a hard-fought, nine-month battle with cancer.

Robert graduated in 1967 from Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas. He was Director of catering at Petaluma Catering.

“Bobby,” as his family called him, was a generous soul all his life. No matter the circumstance, situation or person, if he could help someone out or make their life a little happier, he did so – even when his own resources were scarce. Bobby looked at the bright side of things, bringing a sense of festiveness to every gathering of family and friends. He used his creative and artistic bent to liven up each occasion. That spirit of creativity colored everything he gave himself to, especially during the holidays and birthdays. Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations were special times shared with his family. No matter what Bobby brought to the party, he always added a special touch. And those who ever received a gift from him can attest to the thoughtfulness and care involved, including some of the most artistic gift wrappings ever seen.

Much loved son, brother, uncle and friend, Bobby heroically struggled through some exceedingly tough periods in his life. The courage and sheer will power he engaged to overcome each one is an example to all to never quit no matter what you face. Giving in was not an option for Bobby, and the tenacity and simplicity with which he overcame each challenge is greatly admired by all who knew and loved him.

Bobby is survived by his mother, Beverly Curry; sister, Sherri Long and husband, Jerry; brothers, Gordon Curry and wife, Pat, and Steve Curry; nieces, Tisha Davis and husband, Beau, Stephanie Kotzur and husband, Kevin, Maggie Curry, Emily Curry and Hannah Curry; nephews, Nick Curry and wife, Rachel, Elliott Curry and Sam Curry; and eight grand nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert M. Curry, Sr.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 14, 2014, at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, 9800 Preston Rd. in Dallas with Dr. Paul Seelman officiating.
