Robert Carl Clancy, “Bob”, 86, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2026, in Plano, Texas. He was born in Seattle, Washington, on October 29, 1939, to his loving parents Robert John Clancy and Meta Pauline (Klemz) Clancy.
Bob proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force and later earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of California, Sacramento, where he met his wife of over 60 years, Donna Lee Wiggins.
On May 14, 1966, Bob and Donna married in Sacramento, California. While Bob had a successful career as an insurance adjuster, his family was always the focus of his life. He and Donna made “family first” a priorty, which resulted in a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. They especially enjoyed traveling together, taking multiple trips throughout the country and Europe and experiencing the beauty and history of different places. Bob and Donna particularly loved visiting Ireland, the home of Bob’s ancestors.
In his free time, Bob enjoyed his love of cars, watching golf, working in the yard, and reading. He loved dogs of all kinds and it was apparent that they loved him too. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, like enjoying a glass of wine or a beer with good friends and family.
Bob was a member of Disciples Christian Church and was very proud of his family, including his two children, Maureen and Robert, and his four grandchildren, who brought him great joy.
Bob will be remembered for his dedication to his family and close friends, his many interests, and the lasting memories he created with those he loved, as well as for his many unsolicited “helpful suggestions”. His memory will be cherished by his family and all who knew him.
Bob is survived by his wife, Donna Lee Clancy, of Plano, Texas; daughter, Maureen Clancy Smith and husband, Joe; son, Robert Walton Clancy and wife, Claudia; grandchildren, Shelby Smith Renshaw and husband, Ross, Drew Neal Smith, Cristian Ignacio Clancy, and Nicholas Robert Clancy; and a host of extended family members and friends, who will miss him dearly and fondly cherish his memory, mostly with laughter.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Meta Clancy.
