IN LOVING MEMORY

Robert "Bob" Stiles

Oct 24 1930 - Aug 07 2023

Robert “Bob” Stiles of Corinth, Texas passed away August 7, 2023, at the age of 92. Bob was born October 24, 1930 to Leonard Ray and Jonnie Lee (Kelley) Stiles in Golden City, Missouri. Bob grew up on the farm on the outskirts of Carthage, Missouri in Avilla, Missouri. He was the third of four siblings and spent his adolescent years farming with his family all around Avilla. After high school, he joined the Air Force and married his high school sweetheart, Jackie Pendleton in 1951 in Wichita Falls, Texas. While in the air force, Bob was a member of the Strategic Air Command (SAC) and a crew chief for a B-36 bomber during the Korean war. He was top of his class in the Air Force mechanics training. After his time in the Air Force, Bob became an aircraft mechanic for American Airlines in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After some time with American Airlines, Bob became a flight engineer and was initially based in New York. His work at American Airlines over the years moved them to Washington, Virginia, and finally Texas. Bob retired in 1996 after 41 years with American Airlines. Bob and Jackie moved to Farmers Branch, Texas in 1966 where they raised their three boys. In 1998 they moved to Celina, Tx to get out of the city. In 2022 they moved to Corinth, Texas to be closer to family. Bob was very active in his sons’ lives teaching them mechanic skills working on bikes, motorcycles, and cars. Bob loved to hunt and fish with many trips to Colorado for Elk hunting and 20 plus years of summer trips to Alaska to fish with his boys. Bob was always present with his boys, from motorcycle racing, to soccer fields, to baseball games, to working on some type of vehicle in the driveway, he was always there. Bob put family first with his love of his wife of 72 years, his boys, grandkids and his newest great-grand child. They were the most important things in his life. He also taught his boys a work ethic and not to be afraid to do a hard days work, and he led by example working on vehicles into his 90's.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jackie Pendleton Stiles of Corinth, Texas; sons, Wesley B. Stiles of Farmers Branch, Texas, Randall J. Stiles of Hickory Creek, Texas, and Kevin D.
