Mr. Robert (Bob) Norman passed away peacefully from the loving arms of his family into the arms of God at the age of 102 in McKinney, Texas on Wednesday December 6, 2023.
He was born to Felix Augustus Norman and Shirley (Skidmore) Norman on September 19, 1921, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Losing his parents at age 6, Bob was a self-made man. After missing time in school to work on his Granddad’s farm, he graduated high school in San Antonio. Shortly after, Bob joined the Army where he served in the South Pacific theater in World War II. When he returned from the war he attended the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a physics degree. Bob attended law school and had several businesses where he met Glenne Ellen Norman. They were married on January 30, 1965, in Cordova, Tennessee. Soon after they were married, they moved to Texas where Bob was a geophysicist for Mobil Oil until his retirement. Bob was a devoted member of the First Methodist Church of Farmersville, Texas.
Bob was the ultimate family man and the love, devotion and loyalty to his family was evident to anyone who knew him. He would say his family is his greatest treasure. His joy came from being around his family. He loved people and you could always find him in a crowd sharing stories or telling jokes. Bob is known in the Farmersville community for supporting his kids, his grandkids and any team member of the team they were on. Most of the kids
and parents knew him as Granddad. He has left a huge empty spot for all that knew and loved him. There is comfort in knowing that he is whole again and reunited with his angel, Ellen. Although we will forever miss him, we are blessed with so many heartwarming memories and love.
He is survived by his son Robert Glenn Norman and wife Mindy, daughters Leigh-Ellen Norman, and Pam Norman Tidwell – husband D.J., his grandchildren Chandler Glenn Norman and wife Ryan, and Caden Payne Norman. He is also survived by his brother John Norman of California and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins throughout the country.
He is preceded in death by his wife Glenne Ellen Norman, five brothers, and three sisters.
