Robert “Bob” Martin Siekman of McKinney, Texas passed away peacefully August 31, 2019 just shy of his 82nd birthday. He was born on September 8, 1937 to Ruben Frederick Siekman and Katie Alyne (Joyce)Siekman in Eastland County, Texas. Bob lived in Rising Star, Tx until he and his beloved mother moved to Pyote, Texas at the age of 11. He was a longtime resident and staple of the town of Pyote. Bob was a graduate of Pyote High School and continued his education with a bachelor’s degree at Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas. He taught high school briefly before returning to Pyote where he was a self-employed contractor in Ward County. The "old bachelor" married the love of his life, Betty Lucille Claborn Geisler in 1983. They loved to travel all over, trains being the preferred transportation. Bob was active in many charitable and community activities including Mayor of Pyote, Board of Directors for West Texas State School and Rattlesnake Bomber Base Museum. He was a longtime member of The Baptist Church of Pyote where you could hear him singing all the old hymns in the front row which he loved. Bob had a laugh that was contagious to those around him. He loved his antique firetrucks, wood working and trains.
Bob will be most remembered for his gentle soul and kindness to everyone. He would help anyone in their time of need and always compassionate for people experiencing difficulties. Bob will be missed by all and remembered for his kind heart and great stories of The Old Pyote.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary Boleneus and husband, Pete of McKinney, Texas, Leigh Anne Burns and husband, Darren of Springfield, Louisiana and Cindy Dona and husband, Dr. Grant Dona of Monroe, Louisiana; son, James “Jim” Geisler and wife, Helen of Hammond, Louisiana; 11 grandchildren, James W Geisler, III, Frank R. Geisler, Thia Geisler Mandel, Jill Dona, Laura Dona, Kristi Kamerman Robert, Robert Kamerman, Kali Burns Meche, David Douglas, Catherine Douglas Fritz and Allison Douglas; 12 great-grandchildren; beloved brother-in-law, Ozell Claborn and wife, Mary Tom Claborn; sister-in-law, Wynell Claborn Melton; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Siekman; parents, Ruben and Alyne Siekman; sisters, Betty Fisher and Joyce (Sitter) Holaman; and brother, William “Bud” Siekman.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 6, 2019 at Elm Cemetery in Rising Star, Texas.
