Rita Ruth Munford Speck

Rita Ruth Munford Speck of McKinney, Texas passed away on December 8, 2020 at the age of 87. She was born on December 15, 1932 to Harold Erie and Hilda (Crater) Munford in Windsor Ontario, Canada.  Rita attended Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and London University in London, Ontario.  She married James Speck on November 30, 1974 in Franklin, Michigan. Rita was a teacher and musician in Windsor, Detroit and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan for many years and is remembered by many piano and voice students. Rita attended First United Methodist Church of McKinney.

She is survived by her children, David Ballard of Seattle, Washington, Mike Ballard and wife, Debbie (Mossong) of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Nancy Labadie and husband, Brian of McKinney, Texas; Jim Speck of Denver, Colorado; Mary Speck of Palmdale, California; brother-in-law, Al Speck and wife, Barbara of Springfield, Illinois.  She is also survived by her adored grandchildren, Alison Ballard, Michael Ballard, Frances Ballard, Maria Ballard, Ryan Ballard, Justin Ballard, Alex Mossong, Brittany Labadie, Zack Labadie; and numerous other loving family and friends.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; parents; and brother, Bob Munford.

Family and friends are invited to Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North in Allen at their convenience on Friday to pay their respects and to sign the register book.  Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.

In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, the following are Ridgeview Memorial Parks guidelines. All are invited to attend the Graveside Service, maintaining social distancing or you may remain in your vehicle. You will be able to listen to the service through speakers set up at the gravesite.

The family suggests memorials be made to The Salvation Army or the SPCA.
