Rita Rose Rund, age 87, of Van Alstyne, Texas, passed away July 3, 2016. Rita was born November 25, 1928, in Okarche, Oklahoma, to Henry and Monica (Wilczek) Berntsen. She married George Joseph Rund on May 20, 1956, in Loyal, Oklahoma. Rita was a member of the 109 Club and was an avid Bunco player. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Van Alstyne, Texas, where she served in the Women’s Club.
She is survived by her children, Larry Rund and wife, Maureen of McKinney, Texas, Cindy Oudshoorn and husband, Michael of Forney, Texas, Kathy Stephan and husband, Rick of Addison, Texas, Rochelle Genn and husband, Zeb of Van Alstyne, Texas, and Terry Rund and wife, Shelly of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Robert, Kevin and wife, Lauren, Kelsey, Taylor, Scott, Jessica, Shane, Zabrina, Austin, Rebecca, Sarah, and Megan; sister, Theresa Wilczek of Loyal, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George, sister, Bernadine Dill, and brothers, Joe Berntsen and George Berntsen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 919 Spence Rd., Van Alstyne, Texas. Interment will follow at Van Alstyne Cemetery in Van Alstyne. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., on Friday, July 8, 2016, with a rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
