Rita Cruz-DeFiscal, age 77, passed away on June 5, 2026. She was born on May 22, 1949, in Mesquite, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Mariana Espinoza and Rafael Cruz, who preceded her in death. She married Juan C. Fiscal, and together they built a home filled with love, values, and unity.
Rita had many callings in her lifetime, but her greatest one was helping the less fortunate. No matter her own circumstances. Returning to Mexico yearly was a non-negotiable for her. Her favorite tasks were to provide homemade meals, along with a large sheet cake for everyone to enjoy! That included distributing clothes, shoes, or other personal items they needed, but the biggest task of hers was sharing the word of God.
Giving back to her community was one of the purest ways she expressed her love and compassion, the way God intended for her. She always put the needs of others before her own, finding joy not in what she received but in what she could give. Her generosity, kindness, and servant’s heart left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She was a wife, a mother, a Guelita, and a Great-Grandmother. She was God’s servant, and she made it known to everyone who crossed her path.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Juan C. Fiscal; her children, Margarita, Jose Juan, Carina, Jose Manuel, Martha, Tranquilina, and Carmen; her 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life and whom she loved deeply; and her beloved companion, Sofía, her faithful pet. She is also survived by her dear sisters, Maria Guadalupe, Maria De La Luz, Maria, and San Juana, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and family who will remember her with love.
Rita will be remembered for her unconditional love, generosity, and devotion she gave to her family throughout her life. Her legacy will live on in the lives of all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
To celebrate Rita’s life and legacy, the family respectfully asks that attendees wear colors other than black. Purple attire is especially encouraged, as a tribute to Rita and the joy she brought to so many.
