Rickey Duane Young, a former Shenango Valley, Pennsylvania resident, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021, while under the hospice care of his sister, Vicki Shea, in Dallas, Texas.  Rickey Young was born on June 14, 1958, in Gatesville, Texas.  He was reared on his grandparents’ farm located in Hickory Township, Pennsylvania and attended Hickory schools.  Rickey was preceded in death by his parents, Vina Morro and Robert “Dub” Young. Rickey leaves behind his beloved daughter, Carrie Ann Young, and four grandchildren, James Getzlaff, Olivia Getzlaff, Emily Stanfield, and Melanie Stanfield.  Besides his sister, Vicki, Rickey leaves behind his brothers:  Todd Young, Rodney Young, Doug Young, and sister, Kathy Herzberger.

Rickey was a 30-year resident of the Brinlee Creek Ranch Treatment Center for Brain Injury and Stroke Rehabilitation located in Anna, Texas.  In fact, Rickey was their very first resident and client.  The family expresses their sincere gratitude for the many years of care that Rickey received at Brinlee Creek Ranch, and the family would especially like to thank his primary physician, Dr. Fatma Gul, for her wonderful care and compassion.  Rickey enjoyed participating in the activities at the Circle of Friends Camp in Pittsburg, Texas and the Mountain High Camp in Red River, New Mexico.  But most of all, Rickey enjoyed his horseback riding excursions at Riding Unlimited in Ponder, Texas.

While in the hospice care of his sister, Vicki Shea, the family would like to express their gratitude to her and her husband, Richard Shea, and her daughter, Christina Shea, grandchildren:  Taylor Shea, Mia Campoz, Ashlyn Shea, great-granddaughter, Kyah Shea, and Rickey’s brother Rodney Young, who provided Rickey with health support and companionship in his final days.  There will be no funeral services and the family wishes that monetary donations be submitted in Rickey’s remembrance to Riding Unlimited in Ponder, Texas.
