IN LOVING MEMORY

Ricky Oglesby

Dec 12 1979 - Oct 13 2022

Richard “Ricky” Allen Oglesby, age 42, of Prosper, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 13, 2022. He was born in Fort Carson, Colorado, on December 12, 1979, to Sarah Smith and Richard Harry Oglesby. Ricky married Chelsea Lynne Hamous in Oklahoma City on June 21, 2011.

There was never another like him and never will be another again.

He had a successful career as an accomplished dog trainer and enjoyed spending time with his wife and friends, traveling with his wife, playing video games, and all things "Star Wars".

Ricky was a self-proclaimed "nerd". He loved Marvel & DC Comics, Star Wars, X-Men, and so much more. Ricky could tell you about all the intricacies and parallel universes and how characters were oddly connected. He was learning the Chinese language for fun - even though he already knew 7 others, including ASL and HTML. His favorite Disney movie was Beauty and the Beast which he and Chelsea would watch often. Ricky built his own computer and excelled at anything electronic.

Ricky had a "silver tongue" and could sell ice to a polar bear. If he was passionate about something, he could speak in such a way that one would find themselves equally excited about the same thing.

Ricky loved animals - but dogs held a special place in his heart. He understood them and had a passion to help others with their companions. Ricky and his wife would spend time at zoos and aquariums - learning about animals and marveling at their beauty.

Although they did not have any human children together, Ricky and Chelsea loved and cared for their "fur-babies" - Ares (Doberman, 6 years old) and Meeko (cat, 11 years old). Meeko was a wedding present from Ricky to Chelsea a few days after they were married.

Ricky was the most supportive and attentive husband to Chelsea. Ricky upheld his vows truly - in sickness & health, scraping to make ends meet & being financially stable, in the most difficult of times & in the most incredible times - he was faithful, forgiving, and thoughtful.

Ricky was one of the funniest people you could meet. He had inside jokes with everyone - a true sign of care and love. He loved to laugh and loved making other people laugh even more.

Ricky was a wonderful husband, son, brother, and friend who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

Ricky is survived by his beloved wife, Chelsea Oglesby; his mother, Sarah Smith; and his sisters, Ann Boartfield and Katie Viklund.

He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Richard and Nora Oglesby.
