Richard Zeitler

Richard Zeitler, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the age of 70. 

Richard was born on June 26, 1951, in Gloversville, New York to Richard J. Zeitler and Eileen Teirnan.  

Richard lived a wonderful life and had a fulfilled career in the oil and gas industry, where he worked for 38 years across six continents, including Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He experienced different cultures and was known for his quick-wit, upbeat attitude and being a promise keeper.

Richard had a passion for sports. He wrestled for Alfred State College and played football for the University of Louisiana Lafayette. For his countless achievements, he was inducted into the Region III Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1981 and into the Hall of Fame for Athletes on September 26, 2014. 

Richard was passionate about mentoring children and young adults. He became a foster father to Goddy, Abraham, Theola Uzor in 2007, and to Benita Thompson, Danielle and David in 2018. He loved and doted on these youngsters, teaching them vital lessons of life. 

Richard was preceded in death by his father Richard J. Zeitler and mother Eileen Teirnan. 

He is survived by his wife, Euginnie; two sons, Jason and Michael; brothers, Garfield and James; grandchildren, Ansley, Gabriel, Genevieve, Carmen and  Camille; four foster children, Benita, Theola, Danielle, and David; and several cousins.
