Richard William Sherk, Jr.

Richard William Sherk Jr., age 64, of Allen Texas, died at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas on Friday, February 25, 2005, following complications from melanoma cancer. He was born, October 20, 1940, in Lebanon PA, to the late Richard W. Sherk and Ruth (Putt) Sherk. He attended Lebanon Grade School and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1958. Richard served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Texas where he met and married his wife Adele Medack Sherk in 1961. Richard attended the University of Texas where he studied architecture. He then began his life long career in the building and construction industry. Richard consulted, planned, supervised and completed many different building projects throughout the nation, both commercial and residential. Richard earned a private pilots license and enjoyed all things related to aviation. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends in the outdoors. Family was everything to Richard, as a loving husband for 44years and a father and grandfather. His kindness and friendship will be truly missed. He is survived by his wife, Adele; daughter Richelle and her husband Tracy Parks along with their children Justin, Austen and Allie all of Georgetown, TX; daughter Christiane and her husband Jason Oakley and their son Carson of Spokane, WA; brother, Ron Sherk and wife Eileen and their children Jeff and his wife April and Suzanne Sherk all residing in PA. Also surviving are Adele’s extended family, relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Highway 75 at Exit 38 Ridgeview Drive, Allen, Texas, (972) 542-2601. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 4000 Midway Road, Carrolton, Texas, 75007, (972) 447-9887 at 11:00 a.m. with graveside services at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas, 75211. Special thanks to Doctor Virginia Kinsella and staff, Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, and Presbyterian Hospital of Plano. Family requests that donations be made to Prince of Peace Christian School Endowment Fund in lieu of flowers.
