Richard Charles Hendriks

Richard Charles Hendriks of McKinney, Texas passed away June 18, 2015 at the age of 81.  He was born October 17, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois.  Richard grew up in Blue Island, Illinois (Chicago) where he graduated from Eisenhower High School.  He obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in Art from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls.  Richard earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin at Superior. He was 8 credits shy of his PhD.  Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  He married Jan Frances Merth on November 26, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois.  Richard taught art for 25 years at the Turtle Lake School System in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin and taught adult classes at Vo-tech in Searcy, Arkansas.  Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. James Parish in Searcy, Arkansas where he was a parishioner for over 35 years. He was also a member of the VFW in Beebe, Arkansas. Richard’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, playing cards and making pizza and wine.  He was a Christian man, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. 

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jan Hendriks of McKinney, Texas; his children, Rick Hendriks and wife Peggy and Paul Hendriks all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Scott Hendriks and wife Stephanie of Little Rock, Arkansas and Kristi Cheatham and husband Brian of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, David Bynum, Shara Hendriks and husband Patrick Jensen, Yvette Hoover and husband Andrew and Jordan Hendriks; great-grandchildren, Marley Jensen and Bentlee Hoover; sister, Rosemary Nelson of Great Falls, Montana; several nieces, nephews and a host of other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Philip F. Hendriks;  brothers, Art Rannfeldt, Jerry Rannfeldt and Wayne Bertleson; sisters, Jeanette Kiest, Loretta Pirch, Lucille Petersen and Shirley Rannfeldt. A memorial mass will be held at 10 am, Saturday, June 27, 2015 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation Friday evening, June 26, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow in Allen, Texas. A rosary is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in St. Paul, MN on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 1:00 p.m..
