Richard Dale Garrigues, age 92, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on February 6, 2026.
Richard was born on January 9, 1934, in Carthage, Missouri, to Howard Linden Garrigues and Neta Ruth (McNabb) Garrigues. He attended Oak Park River Forest High School in Illinois and later graduated from Northwestern University, where he studied electrical engineering and proudly played percussion in the marching band.
On November 26, 1967, Richard married Carol Jean Weltin in Oak Park, Illinois. Together they shared a devoted marriage of 58 years marked by love, faith, and partnership.
Richard worked for IBM for 30 years, beginning his career in Chicago before transferring to Dallas. He was known for his dedication and integrity throughout his professional life.
He was a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Known affectionately as “Papa” by his grandchildren, Richard delighted in family time and created lasting memories with those he loved. He had a passion for collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia and greatly enjoyed studying genealogy.
Richard was a living example of biblical love, as described in 1 Corinthians 13:4–7—loving, patient, kind, and steady in spirit. His even-keeled nature and gentle presence touched everyone who knew him.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
Richard is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Bryan Dale Garrigues and wife, Margie; daughter, Linda Garrigues; granddaughter, Margo Garrigues; granddaughter, Katherine Guerra and husband, Avniel; granddaughter, Ashley Bryer and husband, Joshua; great grandchildren, Rosie Bryer, Daisy Bryer and Locke Dale Guerra; brother, Charles Garrigues and wife, Pat; brother, Roger Garrigues and wife, Judy; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Neta Garrigues, and brother, David Garrigues.
