Richard Eugene Irby of McKinney, Texas passed away into the loving arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ on August 31, 2017. He was born on January 27, 1941, to Ernest Richard and Reatha (LeGrand) Irby, who preceded him in death. Richard grew up in Charleston, Illinois where he graduated from Charleston High School in 1959. He served his country proudly in the United States Army Reserves from 1962-1963. Richard married his lovely wife, Lynda L. (Finley) Irby on June 11, 1966, at the First United Methodist Church in Charleston, IL. Richard continued his education at Eastern Illinois University and graduated with a degree in Physics.
Richard began his career at Schlumberger Oil Services as an Oil Field Engineer. In 1972, he took a position with the Guiberson Division of Dresser Industries where he worked for over 29 years as a Design Engineer. He retired in 2002 as a Material Scientist in the oil fields specializing in rubber tools. In his retirement, he founded Rubber for Energy Inc. where he concluded his career as a Material Scientist Consultant.
Richard moved to McKinney, TX and attended Lighthouse Fellowship Church of Prosper, Texas. There he served as a Bible study leader, an usher and in other capacities.
Richard is survived by his wife, Lynda Irby of McKinney, Texas; daughters, Wendy Bokmiller and husband, Steve, of Chesapeake, Virginia, Beth Moore and husband, Richard, of Carrollton, Texas, Becky Irby of Richardson, Texas, and Allyson Carey and husband, Chris, of Lynchburg, Virginia; loved grandchildren, Grant and Lucy Bokmiller, Lily Moore, Clark, Oliver, Graham and Scarlett Carey; brother, Delbert Irby and his wife Karen of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and a host of other loving family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship, 4331 East Prosper Trail, Prosper, Texas 75078. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
