Richard Don Witmer

Richard Don Witmer passed away February 6, 2024 at the age of 55 in McKinney, Texas. He was born October 23, 1968 in San Jose, California to Fredrick Oscar Maximillion Witmer and Maudie Dechauvigny. He attended Cottonwood Creek Church in Allen, Texas. Rick grew up in San Jose, California and graduated from Pioneer High School in 1986. Rick played college basketball at San Jose City College and was then recruited by The University of San Francisco on a D1 scholarship. After his tenure at USF, he then finished up at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California where he received his business degree. During his last year at Vanguard, he met his wife, Laura. Rick and Laura got married on April 17th, 1996. They had four children together.

He began his career in Technology where he eventually worked his way up to Regional Director of Sales at NetScout. His hobbies included coaching basketball, playing golf, fishing, spending time at the lake and vacationing in Hawaii.  Most importantly, his passion was mentoring kids not only on the court, but in all aspects of life.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Witmer of McKinney, Texas; children, Trae Witmer, Damon Witmer, Jordan Witmer and wife, Madeline, Brooke Witmer, and Kenny McGowen and wife, Rosalee all of McKinney, Texas; siblings, Fran Kenyon and husband, Todd of Oakdale, California, Jeff Middendorp and wife, Alexandra of Tigard, Oregon, and Dave Modderman and wife, Lucy of Mountain View, California; nephew Michael Walker, and nieces Amanda Munoz, Kelsey Pace and a host of other loving family and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his father.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Cottonwood Creek Church, 1015 Sam Rayburn Tollway, Allen, Texas 75013.

The family will receive friends during a visitation held on Monday evening, February 12, 2024 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

A non-profit organization will be created in Ricks name. It will provide a scholarship to a selected high school athlete. Memorial contributions can be made here at the following https://gofund.me/c72bc289.
