Richard “Dick” W. Krum, age 78, of McKinney, Texas, passed away January 22, 2018. Dick was born May 9, 1939 in Camden, New Jersey, to Franklin W. and E. Frances (Schafer) Krum. He grew up in Woodlynne, New Jersey and graduated from Collingswood High School in 1957. Upon graduating, Dick enlisted in the Air Force serving in the reserve for four years, only being called up once for the Cuban Missile Crisis. In 1963, he married Mary “Bunny” Ludwigsen. After marriage, Dick began working for the Sun Oil and Gas Company in their accounting department. He and Bunny went on to have three children, son Keith and daughters, Cheryl and Donna. Dick’s job took him and his family to live in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Gillette, Wyoming; and finally settling in Richardson, Texas. He retired from Sun Oil in 1993. In his retirement, Dick enjoyed woodworking, working in the yard, and spending time with his four grandchildren. Through it all, he faithfully cared for Bunny, who was chronically ill from 1977 until her death in 2011.
He is survived by son, Keith B. Krum and husband Michael Baker of Dallas, Texas; daughters, Cheryl L. Lawrence and husband Chris of McKinney, and Donna J. Holt and husband James of Tyler, Texas; granddaughter, Sarah Lawrence; and grandsons, Samuel Lawrence, Zachary Holt, and Jacob Holt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Franklin W. Krum, Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday January 27, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, 315 N. Church St., McKinney Texas, 75069. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00- 9:00 pm Friday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
