Richard Dean Pflug

Richard Dean Pflug of McKinney, Texas, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on January 31, 2025, at the age of 94. He was born on November 23, 1930, to Walter Henry Pflug and Alma (Bove) Pflug in Papillion, Nebraska.

A proud graduate of Panhandle High School in Panhandle, Texas, Class of 1946, Richard went on to earn both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northern Colorado University. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a distinguished career dedicated to service. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Richard had a notable career with the Texas Commission for the Blind, where he made a lasting impact on countless lives.

On May 29, 1954, Richard married the love of his life, Eunice Avon Patterson, in Lefors, Texas. Together, they built a life filled with love, faith, and cherished moments. Richard was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church of McKinney, where he contributed his time and spirit to those around him.

Richard is lovingly remembered by his wife, daughter, sibling and a wide circle of friends. He was a man of integrity, compassion, and unwavering faith, and his memory will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Eunice Pflug of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Susan Sorley, also of McKinney; brother, Jack Pflug of Aumsville, Oregon; and a host of other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church McKinney located at 315 North Church Street, McKinney, Texas 75069.
