Richard Charles Rudin was born to Clarence and Emily (Meyer) Rudin on November 9, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating high school he joined the Navy and served on the USS Bradford as a Fire Control Technician. After his enlistment, he attended DeVry Technical Institute and obtained his Electrical Technology Degree. He began a career as a printing press field technician at Hurletron in Danville, Illinois where he met his future wife, Mary Linda Bernardi. They married on February 22, 1969 in Danville, Illinois. Richard traveled throughout the United States to repair and update printing presses and was often requested from the New York Times for technical assistance. Richard and Linda spent 34 wonderful years together. They modeled what a loving marriage should look like while raising their three children before Linda’s passing in 2003.

Family and friends could always count on Richard to help out whenever there was a need. He showed love through his actions and frequently and happily provided assistance to those he loved. He was a collector and fixer of many things. During his free time, Richard enjoyed tinkering in the garage and on the many cars he owned throughout his life. He also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, Dallas Cowboys and auto racing.
