Richard Carl Wright was born on May 19, 1961 at KU Medical Center to Junior Gene and Mary Wright. He was the 5th of 9 children. Both parents, Junior Gene and Mary Wright, a sister Marilyn Christine Wright and, a nephew Junior Gene Wright III, preceded him in death. Richard grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Southeast High School. He graduated from Kansas University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Engineering. He also obtained his MBA and MA from Webster University. Richard worked for Southwestern Bell/ AT&T, Verizon and Frontier Communications. Richard was baptized at an early age and accepted the Lord as his personal Savior. He was a member of North Dallas Bible Fellowship Church. Richard was a kind and selfless man. He was a wonderful son, husband, father brother, uncle, and friend. He loved his family very much. He was a quiet man that knew how to get his point across without ever raising his voice. He was humble, kind-hearted, compassionate and a friend to many. Richard loved his wife, Karen and their two children, Ashley and Alexander. He was papa to his three beautiful granddaughters, Imani, Grace, and Joy. Richard loved to travel and experience new places, good food and wines.
Richard passed away peacefully on November 4, 2022 at his home with his family at his bedside. He leaves to cherish his memory and honor his legacy, wife, Karen Wright, Ashley (Mzee) Dillon, and Alexander Wright; three granddaughters, Imani, Grace, and Joy Dillon whom all reside in Texas; four sisters, Arlene (Donald) Tittle, Lee Summit, MO; Gloria Wright Kansas City, MO, Tracie (Daniel) McCelland, Kansas City, MO; Yolanda Wright Independence, MO; three brothers, Junior Gene (Jeanette) Tacoma, WA; Frank Wright, Kansas City, MO and Sylvester (Sheila) Wright, Independence, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends whom he loved.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas with burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening, November 18, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
