Richard Allen Edelman of Frisco, Texas passed away June 27, 2018, at the age of 66. He was born July 17, 1951 in Ocean Township, New Jersey. He discovered his passion for playing baseball and the importance of dedication early in life. Richard graduated from high school and went on to play college ball for Concord College. He was recruited by the Baltimore Orioles to play minor league baseball. Over the next few years, Richard worked his way up to AAA baseball. Eventually, he transitioned into a career in business management which led him to his next passion. Richard met the love of his life, Jill Elaine Abbott, while working as the manager of Goodies in Warner Robins, Georgia. Within one year, he and Jill were married on June 27, 1998. Richard was a wonderful father to his two sons, Jonathan and Corey. He raised them to be respectful, caring and hard working men plus instilled in them the importance of being a great husband and taking care of family. Richard attended all of their sports game and cheered proudly from the side lines demonstrating the embodiment of everything he taught his boys. After living in Georgia for an extended period, he and his family settled on life in North Texas. Richard worked for a national company where he was loved and respected by all his employees. He was a devout Christian and active member of his church. Richard was a great father and valued spending time with his family. Whether he was enjoying a family gathering, planning an upcoming adventure, taking a day trip around Texas, visiting his son and daughter in law in Massachusetts, or planning a trip of a lifetime to Jerusalem, he lived life to its fullest and enjoyed the ride.
Richard leaves behind his beloved wife, Jill Elaine Edelman of Frisco, Texas; sons, Jonathan K. Powell and his wife Liz of Woburn, Massachusetts and Corey M. Powell and wife Michele of Denton, Texas and a host of loving family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
