IN LOVING TRIBUTE
Rex Lee McCreary
Rex Lee McCreary passed away at his home in Leonard, Texas on June 29th 2026, at the age of 92. Rex was born on May 13th 1934 to Ray McCreary and Anna Marie (Matt) McCreary in Fargo, Oklahoma.
Rex and family moved to Woodward, Oklahoma after World War II and Rex graduated from Woodward High School. After completing business school in Oklahoma City, Rex enlisted in the United States Air Force. Upon his return from active duty, he met and married his wife, Vera, in Bethany, Oklahoma.
Rex and Vera soon moved to Dallas, Texas for a job working for Olivetti Typewriter Company. Rex changed professions after a few years and worked for Texas Instruments for over twenty five years across multiple locations. After finally retiring from TI Sherman, he served on the board for the Hickory Creek Water Supply and then volunteered at the Leonard Museum. He absolutely loved talking with people about Leonard. He was so very proud to be named Citizen of the Year for his devoted service.
Rex will be remembered by his son, Michael Lee McCreary and wife, Andrea, of Lewisville, Texas; daughter, Erin Kayleen Brown and husband, Travis, of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Charles Derek Lee McCreary and wife, Cynthia, Anna Marie McCreary, James Alexander Lee McCreary, Stephanie Lynn Moore and husband, Gary, Christopher Jay Brown and wife, Jessica, Brandon Lee Brown; great grandchildren, Claire McCreary, Austin McCreary, William McCreary, Lucy McCreary, Tobias Moore, Alice Brown and expected in July, Cody Brown. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Vera McCreary; his parents, Ray and Anna McCreary; grandson, Michael Carlton Lee McCreary; great grandson, Alexander Moore.
The family will welcome guests to a visitation from 12:30pm-2:00pm, Monday, July 6th 2026 at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, 701 North Cedar Street, Leonard, Texas 75452. Following, the funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Jerry Taylor. The burial will take place after the service at Leonard Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be Gary Moore, Chris Brown, Brandon Brown, Charles McCreary, James McCreary and Manuel Benavides.
