Rev. Maybe Mugabe

Rev Mugabe was born on 24 June 1942 at Morgenster Mission Hospital Masvingo , to farmers Daniel Musasa and Elizabeth Mugabe. She grew up at Mushawasha Farm, in Ngomahuru district, where she lived with her parents and eight siblings. After completing her primary education at Mamvura Primary School, she went to Zimuto Secondary School for her secondary education, and it was at Zimuto Secondary School that she met and fell in love with Herbert Nyamandi. They got married and were blessed with three children, Newman, Norman, and Varaidzo Nyamandi, and Mr. Nyamandi would later die in 1984. She first worked as a nurse and later as a teacher. The Lord called her to ministry in 1981 while she was a teacher at Mavizhu Primary School in Nyajena district. Her calling verse was Matthew 28 v 19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Ghost.”

When she started her Theological training at the United Theological College Harare in 1983, she was one of the first two women from the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe to train for and enter the ministry. While a student minister, she contributed to the growth of the Hatfield Society from a church consisting of a few families to a large congregation. After her graduation, she worked in the following circuits as a minister: Highfields (responsible for Mufakose, Kambuzuma, and Kuwadzana societies); Marondera (as a Chaplain at Waddilove Secondary School); Chitungwiza (responsible for Zengeza and St. Mary’s societies); Mbare (responsible for Mbare, Vavambi, Sunningdale, Cranborne societies; Chitungwiza (responsible for Seke A, B, H societies, Rusirevi, Chitsvedemu, and Dema societies). She retired in 2006 and lived in Chitungwiza with her grandson, Herbert, and other grandchildren. In 2013, she went to the United States of America, where she lived with the families of her son Norman & Tinera Nyamandi and daughter Varaidzo. Rev. Mugabe passed away on 28 July 2023 in Texas, the United States, due to a heart attack. She will be buried in Dallas Texas on 5 August 2023.

She is survived by her children, Mr. Norman and Dr. Varaidzo Nyamandi; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Tinera Nyamandi; grandchildren, Herbert Nyamandi, Dr. Tariro Nyamandi, Kundai Nyamandi, Norman Nyamandi Jr., Vimbai Nyamandi, Siphosami Dongozi and Siyabonga Dongozi; siblings, Mr. Calvin Mugabe, Mr. Davison Mugabe, Ms. Varaidzo Mugabe, Mrs. Constance Musangeya, Mrs. Edith Ndoda, Mrs. Gurayi Chakona, Mrs. Julia Mazorodze, Mrs. Nyaradzo Murima, and Mr. Kudzai Mugabe; brothers -in-law Mr. Alexander Ndoda; Mr. Chakona, Mr. Mazorodze; sisters-in-law Mrs. Anna Mugabe, Mrs. Caroline Mugabe , Margaret Basupi and Mrs Isabel Mugabe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Herbert Nyamandi; parents, Mr. Daniel and Elizabeth Mugabe; son, Newman Nyamandi; granddaughter, Sally Maybe Nyamandi; siblings, Ms. Norah Mugabe; Mrs. Eneah Chandahwa, Mr. Gideon Mugabe, Benaiah Mugabe and Winnie Chimushonga.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Sent Church, 3701 Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway N, Allen, Texas.
