Reta Elizabeth McGaughey of Richardson, Texas, passed away on June 6, 2022, at the ripe old age of 97 1/2. It seems appropriate that she passed on D-Day as she was truly one of the greatest generation.
She was born and raised on a cotton farm in west Texas to Chester and Elizabeth Beights. She married Jack McGaughey of Honey Grove, Texas, in 1954.
Reta lived her life to the fullest. She was a wonderful mother and wife. She and Jack moved to Richardson, Texas in 1963 where they continued to raise their two children. When their children were in High School, she went back to work as a draftsman for Phillips Coal Company until she retired. She enjoyed playing cards and traveling with friends. Reta loved to have visitors and would often feed them or drink a cup of coffee with them while catching up on the latest. She was well-loved by all in her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Patrick and husband, David, of College Station, Texas; her son, Robert McGaughey and his wife, Teresa, of Richardson, Texas; and her four grandchildren, J.D. Patrick and wife, Ahnriel, Kacy Patrick, Hunter McGaughey and wife, Jasmine, and Keller McGaughey.
Reta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; and many cousins and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
If you have a memory or favorite story of Reta, please share it with the family in lieu of flowers or donations.
