Mrs. Rebecca Washington, age 57 of Plano, TX, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2004. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2004 at Legacy Church, 4501 Legacy Drive in Plano. The service will be at 3:00 PM with a reception to follow at the church. She will be buried in Exeter, Missouri on Saturday, September 11th with a family ceremony.
Becky was born in Dallas, TX on May 2, 1947 to Sidney Craft and Alwilda Montgomery Reber. She is survived by her husband, Randall; daughter and son-in-law, Whitney and Ted Hillestad; daughter and son-in-law, Wendi and Jon Singletary; and grandchildren, Haden and Harper Singletary; father, Sidney Craft Reber and her school family at Shepard Elementary School in Plano.
Becky grew up in Lakewood, attending Franklin and Hillcrest High Schools before moving to the Baptist mission field with her parents where she graduated from the American School in Singapore. She attended Baylor University, Alaska Pacific University, University of London, and University of North Texas, and held a Masters Degree in special Education, specializing in Autism and Emotional Disturbance.
Becky loved walking on the beach with her husband, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a friend, counselor, and encourager. She gave all her energy to helping those who needed her. She tirelessly gave voice to the voiceless. Anyone who met Becky will never forget her enthusiasm for life, sweet spirit, infectious laughter, and the warm, loving friend she was to all of us. Becky left a powerful mark in this world, and we are all better people for knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Autism Society of Collin County. Their web site is Autism-ASCC.org. Arrangements are being held with Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
