Reba Nell McElhaney, age 81, of Dallas, Texas, passed away September 18, 2017. Reba was born September 26, 1935, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Joseph Richard and Meadie Elexander (Reaves) Vestal. She married Ottis Edward McElhaney, Jr. on January 15, 1955, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Reba grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas where she graduated from Fort Smith Senior High School in 1954. She taught daycare and also worked at Cloth World, JoAnn’s, and in Walmart’s fabric department as sewing was one of her great passions. Reba enjoyed working in the yard, particularly watering and pulling weeds. She especially loved her family and grandchildren. Reba had a very strong faith and loved the Lord. She attended Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church in Dallas.
She is survived by her husband, Ottis McElhaney; daughters, Karen McElhaney, Rhonda Hooten and husband, Dickie, Janie Broxson and husband, Richard, and Leesa Mason and husband, Arlin; grandchildren, Rachel Thompson and husband, Marshal, Amber Bird and husband, Clinton, Justin Brede and wife, Jaclyn, Michael Gardner and wife, Alicia, and Cooper Mason; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Abigail, Lily, Savannah, Bennett, Peyton, Tucker, Jensen, and Wyatt; sisters, Mary Jones and Brenda Zimmerman; brothers, Richard Vestal and Robert Vestal; a host of nieces, nephews and other loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Jeanette Adams, and brothers, Newell Vestal, Joe Keith Vestal, and Kenneth Vestal.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 25, 2017 at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, 9810 La Prada Drive, Dallas, Texas 75228. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday afternoon, September 24, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway N., Allen, Texas 75013.
