Raymond Padgett Bryant Jr, known to everyone as Padgett, joyfully reunited in Heaven with his wife Linda on March 16th, 2026. Padgett was born on December 1, 1949, alongside his twin sister and one of his best friends, Peggy Bryant Scribner. He graduated from McKinney High School in 1968 and then attended East Texas State University, earning a Bachelor in Business Administration on August 13, 1971. He married Linda Strouhal the very next day on August 14th. They were married for 52 years until her passing.
They were blessed with two sons, Michael Padgett (Rachel) and Jay Allen (Darby), who survive him. Padgett worked in the car business for over 50 years, but his favorite job was being a dad, possibly only beat out by being a Granddaddy. Padgett coached his sons’ teams, practiced sports with them, and every night when the boys were little would sit down in his chair and play Yahtzee with them (Mike still contributes his amazing math skills to this). As his sons grew, his family grew, and Padgett and Linda excitedly welcomed six grandchildren- Kira, Mackenzie, KK, Keelee, Macie and Jaxon.
After retirement, Padgett and Linda traveled the world over, often travelling to see their grandkids perform in their various pursuits. Padgett was also a member of the Agape Sunday School class at Cottonwood Creek Church. He is survived by his sisters- Peggy Bryant Scribner, Sharon Hardwick, and Karen Stephens, his sons, his grandchildren and his daughter-in-law, Rachel, whom he often referred to as the “Light of his Life”, mostly when she was giving advice he asked for but didn’t like.
There was a great reunion in Heaven when he walked through those pearly gates joining his wife, parents, several beloved in-laws and a very sweet nephew. Padgett was always outgoing and fun to be around, the daily conversations with him will greatly be missed by Mike, Rachel and the girls, who he often liked to tease and joke with. While he faced many health struggles on this earth, we weren’t quite ready to let him go, but we find comfort knowing he is back with the love of his life and pain free.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2026 at Stony Point Cemetery, 8241 Co Rd 1095, Anna, Texas 75409.
In lieu of flowers, the family would love for you to donate in his memory to the Stoney Point Cemetery (P.O. Box 775 Melissa, Texas 75454).
