Raymond Olen Blankenship

August 8, 1930 - April 7, 2018

Raymond Olen Blankenship of Plano, Texas passed away on April 7, 2018 at the age of 87.  He was born on August 8, 1930 to Army Lee and Edna (Dillard) Blankenship in McKinney, Texas.  Raymond married Patsy Ruth Burgess on September 4, 1955 in Seagraves, Texas. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the Military Police Motorcycle Patrol in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on January 11, 1954.  Raymond loved God and his Country.  He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. Raymond was a long time member of the Plano community.  He was a member of the Free Masonic Lodge.

Raymond is survived by his daughters, Deborah Nelson of Princeton, Texas, Susan Byrd and husband, James of Aledo, Texas, Amy McCormick and husband, David of Ovilla, Texas and Angela Carl and husband, Chris of Savoy, Texas; grandchildren, Amber, Jacob, Lauren, Hallie, Trey, Dylan, Pierce and Ray; brother, Army Olen Blankenship; sister, Frances Busby; and numerous other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Blankenship; parents, Army Lee and Edna Blankenship; son, Raymond Bryan Blankenship; and five siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.  Interment with Military Honors will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.  The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

My heart is heavy but I know my daddy, Robert Blankenship is happy to see him again, I only found out today of my Uncles loss. All my prayers to all the ones he touched. I can picture him in my backyard talking for hours with my daddy, now they talk forever. I love you Uncle Raymond. Dorothy Sekander, April 11, 2018 I am saddened to hear of the passing of Uncle Raymond.  I remember him and Patsy coming to visit mom and dad in McKinney when I was a kid and I recall Christmas gifts they brought and would leave for us .  We lift you up in our prayers at this sad time.  Jesus said, “Come unto me all you that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.”
