Raymond Logan Platt

Raymond Logan Platt, a devoted husband, father, minister, and educator, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2023, at the age of 92 in Plano, Texas. He was born on October 14, 1931, in Absecon, New Jersey, to Raymond and Florence Mildred (Hitchner) Platt.

Raymond's journey of faith and education began at Wheaton Bible College in Wheaton, Illinois, where he earned his first degree. He continued his studies at Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana, furthering his commitment to serving others through ministry.

On June 27, 1953, Raymond married the love of his life, Betty Joy Hage, in Muskegon, Michigan. Their union was blessed with love, dedication, and a shared commitment to their faith. Together, they embarked on a remarkable journey, touching the lives of many.

Raymond's passion for ministry led him to serve as an assistant minister in Aldan, Pennsylvania, where he was ordained.  He continued his ministry as a senior pastor at First Baptist Church in Doylestown, Pennsylvania and retired from the ministry at Friends Church in Bellefontaine, Ohio.  Following his retirement, he continued to make a positive impact on the lives of others by working at Plano Independent School District.

Raymond is survived by his loving children, Jonathan Platt and wife Elaine M. of Plano, Texas, Susan Joy Platt LeBlanc and husband Garfield Ingram of Fairview, Texas, and Jeffrey W. Platt of Waco, Texas. He is also remembered fondly by his grandchildren, Brienne, Stephen, Kristin, Brandon, Brittany, Katlin, Chris, Gracie, and Hage, as well as his eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Betty Joy Platt, his son Raymond Thomas Platt, and his brother Albert Platt.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
