Ray Camron Tyler, age 80, of Richardson, Texas, passed away October 12, 2014. He was born October 9, 1934 in McKinney, Texas, to William A. and Jettie B. (Day) Tyler. On August 1, 1964, Ray married Elena D. Scott in Murchison, Texas. Ray was born and raised in Collin County and a graduate of McKinney High School. Shortly after he graduated, Ray joined the United States Army and proudly served his country for three years. After his military career, Ray went to work for the United States Postal Service where he retired after 35 years of service. He loved to write and would read anything. Ray especially enjoyed traveling across the United States. His family meant everything to him. Ray was a member of First United Methodist Church of Richardson.
He is survived by his wife, Elena D. Tyler of Richardson; daughters, Deanna Tyler and partner Nancy Holloman of Farmersville, Texas, Danette Murrell and husband Jeff of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Delayna and Samantha Murrell both of Allen; his dog, Bunny Lou; brothers, Mickey Tyler and wife Brenda of Allen, Rickey Tyler and wife Randy of Garland, Texas; sisters, Jeanette Bailey of McKinney, Joyce Welch and husband Richard of McKinney; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, William Alden and Jettie Day Tyler and son, Cameron Scott Tyler.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
