Raul S. Romero Sr., age 93, a proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away on February 22, 2022. Mr. Romero passed away peacefully in Leonard, Texas, at the home of the daughter he lived with, Tomasita Sanchez. Mr. Romero was a Veteran of World War II, where he served proudly for the United States Army as a Sergeant. Mr. Romero was stationed in Japan as part of the occupational forces. Mr. Romero earned citations of World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal Japan.
Mr. Romero is preceded in death by his brothers, Mario Romero, Ruben Romero, and Jose Romero; sisters, Olga Casillas, Rosa Martin, and Lydia Jacobs; and grandchildren, Gabriela Romero Shumway and Jorge Romero.
Mr. Romero is survived by his wife, Petra Longoria Romero; children, Tomasita (Oscar) Sanchez, Raul Romero Jr., Alberto Romero, Rebecca (Brian) Travis, Javier Romero, Monica Romero, and Christobel Romero; brother, Lauro Romero; grandchildren, Oscar Sanchez, Erica (Ricardo) Solis, Margaret Romero, Raul (Mary) Romero III, Alberto (Kiona) Romero, Katarina Travis, Corinne Travis, Javier Romero, Jacqueline Romero, and Jonathan Romero; great grandchildren, Benicio Solis, Mateo Solis, Justine (Ruddy) Madrigal, Jazzmin Atherton, Daisy Atherton, Gaby Romero, Zoie Romero, and James Shumway; and great-great grandson, Jaiden Perez.
A funeral service will be held at 3pm, Friday, March 4, 2022, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, 701 North Cedar Street, Leonard, Texas 75452.
