IN LOVING MEMORY

Randel Wayne McCracken

Apr 08 1941 - Jul 31 2020

Randel Wayne McCracken (1941-2020) was born on April 8, 1941 in Electra, Texas to Hoy and Fran McCracken. Hoy was a Tool and Dye Machinist and Fran was a secretary. In 7th grade, Randy moved to Wichita Falls, Texas and then to Grand Prairie, Texas in 9th grade. Having grown up in the Southern Baptist church, Randy became a devoted follower of Jesus Christ at a young age. He graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1959 and from Baylor University in 1963 with a degree in History and Religion. Randy was a member of the second pledge class of the Kappa Omega Tau (KOT) Fraternity at Baylor. Randy studied for two years at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. After his first year of seminary, he came back to Grand Prairie and courted Martha Ann Jones, daughter of Theron and Maurine Jones of Grand Prairie. They married on June 6, 1964 at First United Methodist Church in Grand Prairie. Randy and Martha’s first daughter was born on April 11, 1966. After seminary, Randy and Martha moved back to Grand Prairie. Randy started a job at JC Penny but was soon invited by a friend to begin selling Real Estate. Randy found his gift and passion serving others. Randy and Martha’s second child, John, was born in 1969. In 1970, Randy opened McCracken Realtors on 303 W Dickey Rd, which later became Century 21 McCracken Realtors. He eventually opened offices in Arlington, Duncanville, Plano and Carrolton. Randy served as the President of the Grand Prairie Board of Realtors and was the youngest person ever elected to serve as the President of the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce. He sold his business to Century 21 Judge Fite in 1997 and began Centurion Mortgage. Randy mentored many people in the Real Estate business over his 50 plus year career.

He would a founding member and elder at Grand Prairie Bible Church. There he regularly taught Sunday School, Bible Studies and Mini-Flocks. He was a student of the Bible. Randy and Martha lost their daughter Amy to a brain tumor in 1983. Their son John went on to marry Mindy Vaughn of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Randy and Martha moved to McKinney, Texas to be near John & Mindy in 2001. Randy had 5 beloved grandchildren: Christopher, Sarah, Hannah, Mary Grace and Amy. His wife of 56 years, Martha, was the love of his life. His grandchildren were the delight of his life. Randy had many friends, loved to play golf and was an avid fan of the Rangers, Cowboys and Mavericks. All of his hope was pinned on the substitutionary death and life-giving Resurrection of his Lord Jesus Christ, in the love of the Father and by the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe that Randy, united to Christ, will one day rise again in a glorious Resurrection body. Plans for a Memorial Service are pending at this time due to the coronavirus pandemic.
