Randall Lee Barnes, a natural born leader, world traveler, all around Renaissance man…and most of all a beloved husband and adored father, left this world on August 24, 2022 at the young age of 49.
He was born on a hot day in July to Ron Barnes and Lois (Sanders) Barnes in the small town of Wichita Falls, Texas. After delighting his parents as a baby, and growing up in the city of Iowa Park, then graduating from high school in 1991, Randy began to make his way in the world. To begin with, he spent time at Midwestern University, then headed to Aggieland. Here he found his niche, making lifelong friends and obtaining a degree in philosophy. Randy had the opportunity, while attending A&M, to study abroad in Germany, where his mom and brother, David, were living at the time. One of his memorable experiences was traveling around Europe dragging his best friend, Jeff, along for the adventure.
Reluctantly, he had to return to reality after enjoying life and freedom on the road. He made his way to Dallas, where he began a long career working for Government records, ACS, later Safeguard Imaging and finally working for Kofile.
It was in Dallas where Randy met his wife, Ceri, the love of his life, while out on White Rock Trail. Together they enjoyed traveling, going to outdoor events, festivals and going on many exciting adventures. They were married onboard a yacht in the Chesapeake Bay in Baltimore.
In June 2001, they started their family with the birth of their twin boys, Jacob and Chase. Shortly after, Renee joined the family and made it complete. For Randy, his family always came first. He invested his time, outside of work, with his children and his wife; his priority.
At work, Randy loved to take the lead and make things happen. He was good at managing projects and improving them, he accomplished so much. He built work relationships that lasted and his colleagues continued to value his friendship until the day he died.
His advice to his family, friends and coworkers was gold, he knew how to help in all situations. And he believed in people’s potential. Randy made a positive impact on so many people’s lives.
Randy was an avid reader right from the day he learned to read, even boring books…as noted by his brother, David. He had ever the curious mind…seeking new activities, unfamiliar foods, and ways to improve oneself in every aspect of life. He always had the desire to make everything better than it was. Randy was the kind of man who made lives easier with his efficient strategies to accomplish tasks, helping wherever he could, delivering clever puns or lightening the mood with a witty remark.
Through all of Randy’s trials and hardships, he never forgot what was most important to him, his family. The only comfort with his absence is that he is now free from pain.
Randy is survived by his beloved wife, Ceri Sian Barnes of Lucas, Texas; sons, Jacob Barnes of Lucas, Texas, and Chase Barnes of College Station; daughter, Renee Barnes of Montreal, Quebec; his brother, David Barnes and his wife, Ashley of Wichita Falls, Texas; father, Ronald Barnes of Arizona; his in-laws, Peter Morgan and wife, Sherie of Glenelg, Maryland; and numerous other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Barnes.
