Ramón Calderón

Ramón Calderón of Allen, Texas, passed away January 5, 2016, at the age of 92. He was born September 8, 1923 to Juan and Irene (Cruz) Calderón in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. On November 11, 1946, Ramón married Isabel Duran in New York. He was a very religious man, a 4th Degree of The Knights of Columbus and took pride and joy in servicing the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Ramón was very dedicated to the church, but was always there for his family; he never said no to his friends and family. Ramón was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, as well as a fan of the Texas Rangers and New York Mets.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, IsabelCalderón of Allen, Texas; children, Miguel of Puerto Rico, María of Oakland, California, Rubén of Puerto Rico, Ramón of New York, New York, José also of New York, New York and Isabel of Allen, Texas; sister, María of Florida; grandchildren, Angie, Jose Jr., Chrissy, Michael Jr., María, Carmen, Ray and Edgar; great-grandchildren, Elena, Mónica, Sierra, Shane, Antonio, Reese, Andrés and Alejandro.

Ramón is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Irene Calderón; brothers, Mario and Julian Calderón; and son, Ramón Calderón, Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 11, 2016 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1515 N. Greenville Avenue in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held Sunday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a rosary beginning at 8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
