Rameshwar D. Mathur of Mississauga, Ontario, passed away on December 12, 2024, at the age of 85. Fondly known as ‘Dada” he was a beloved father, son, uncle and brother. He was also a beloved friend to many longtime friends who affectionately knew him as Dada. He was born to Ishwar Dayal Mathur and Vidya Mathur in New Delhi, India and was a loyal elder son and brother to his much loved and cherished family.
Ramesh grew up in New Delhi, India and loved India while also cherishing his time in Toronto, Ontario. He came as one of the original few Indian immigrants back in the 1960’s and lived happily in Toronto for 60 years, while praising the power of India always proudly.
Ramesh was married to Chand Mehra in New Delhi, and they lived a very happy and nice life in Toronto. Their generosity left a lasting impact on their many friends and relatives. They were known to be very helpful and caring for the other newcomers who were also coming to Toronto at that time in the mid 1960’s.
Ramesh is survived by his daughters Renu and Kiran who currently reside in the United States. Having lived in Canada with their parents and their family friends and relatives for so long, they maintain their cherished Canadian ties.
Ramesh took loving care of his wife who battled cancer for over five years from 2009 to 2013. He did this after surviving his own battle with colon cancer in 2008. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with another cancer in 2017, which he survived. Ultimately the disease left him very weak and debilitated after 2023, but he was still mentally strong.
Ramesh was best known for his mental strength, determination, and fortitude and was an independent and strong man who lived his last eleven years as a widower with mental strength and resilience. He will be dearly missed forever and loved forever because he was a loving man who cared for his close and dear ones. He was a true treasure and gem of a person who will always be in our memories forever.
