IN LOVING MEMORY

Ralph Clinton Daugherity

Jan 12 1948 - Feb 02 2019

Ralph Clinton Daugherity of McKinney, Texas, passed away on February 2, 2019, at the age of 71.  He was born on January 12, 1948 to Walter and Patricia (Cooke) Daugherity in El Paso, Texas. Ralph wrote: “As you consider anything that I may have accomplished, any good deeds I may have done, anyone I may have encouraged, or any songs I may have sung: Know assuredly that our God the Righteous Judge will consider all of that as nothing, and he will look to Jesus, my Lord and Savior, to say that I was one of His, and that His blood covers all of my sins.”  Ralph grew up in Oklahoma City where his parents were both teachers. They cultivated Ralph’s gifts of curiosity, creativity, song, and spirit. Ralph and his two brothers enjoyed blessed times with beloved family in Cordell, Oklahoma; Abilene, Texas; and Pine Springs Summer Camp near Cloudcroft, New Mexico. The Daugherity Boys spent their time tinkering, playing outdoors, and many hours at church. Ralph was a 1966 graduate of Putnam City High School in Oklahoma City, and continued on to graduate from Oklahoma Christian University with a degree in Management Science. He earned an MBA from the University of Oklahoma. Ralph met Doris Elizabeth Carothers when they were college-age, and they married on June 12, 1970, in Edmond, Oklahoma. He worked at Rose College in Midwest City, Oklahoma, in the college’s infancy, and was the first computer programmer on staff. He was a career telecom computer specialist, starting with Southwestern Bell in St. Louis in 1979 and retiring from AT&T in Plano in 2012.  He was a devoted husband and a steadfast father and grandfather. Ralph had served as deacon of McKnight Road Church of Christ in St. Louis, Missouri, and later enjoyed operating the audio-visuals during worship at McDermott Road Church of Christ in Plano, Texas. Ralph was known for being able to fix anything; driving a big blue van; bringing his camera to every family event; playing the tuba, trombone and harmonica; and tending to the family’s genealogy records. He humbly served others in their time of need. He was rarely without a song, and he was thrilled to sing bass with the A Cappella Praise & Harmony Group. He enjoyed his Friday breakfast group. Ralph loved to take the family camping and on road trips and he especially savored a trip to Donegal, Ireland, with the diaspora of O'Dochartaighs.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Doris Elizabeth Daugherity of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Amy Beth Daugherity Warren and husband, Jeffrey of Euless, Texas; granddaughter, Katherine Warren; grandson, Henry Warren; brothers Walter Chisholm Daugherity and wife, Natalie; and Louis Cooke Daugherity and wife, Mary; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Patricia Daugherity, and son, John Edward Daugherity.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 9, 2019 at The Church of Christ on McDermott Road, 3600 McDermott Road, Plano, Texas 75025. The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made in Ralph's honor to Oklahoma Christian University.
