IN LOVING MEMORY

R. Allan Steele

Jan 19 1947 - Jun 03 2016

R. Allan Steele, age 69, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2016 following a brave and stoic battle with a rare lung disease known as Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Allan is survived by his wife, Pat Steele of Plano, Texas; children, Caroline Steele of Lakewood, Colorado and Andrew Steele of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Emily Herren and Daniel Herren, both of Lakewood, Colorado; and his sister, Pat Steele of Montreal, Canada.

Allan was born on January 19, 1947, in Stoke-on-Trent, England to Robert and Irene (Barber) Steele.

Allan graduated from North Staffs University in Stafford, England in 1971 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He married Pat, the love of his life, in 1973. A few short years later, Pat and Allan welcomed their first child, Caroline in Stafford, England. Three years later they welcomed their son Andrew, born in Montreal, Canada.

Allan was well accomplished in his chosen field of information technology and retired at the top of his game in 2013 as Chief Information Officer for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART).

Allan was kind, witty, and had an incredibly dry sense of humor. He was a devoted family man, wonderful husband, incredible father, and loyal friend. He loved single malt scotch whisky, a good curry, Stoke City FC, and most recently in retirement, the game of golf. Allan, quite simply, loved life.

A Celebration of Allan’s Life is scheduled for Friday, June 10, 2016 at 2pm. The Courses at Watters Creek, 7201 Chase Oaks Blvd, Plano, TX 75025 at 2:00pm. A reception will follow directly from 3:00pm – 5:00pm.

A good friend to the Steele family, Rev. Sandy McLachlan will officiate the ceremony.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Allan’s life.

The Steele family would especially like to thank Doctor Christine Garcia and Doctor Jessica Mullins, as well as the entire nursing staff of Clements University Hospital at UT Southwestern for their dedication and exemplary care.

In lieu of flowers and whisky, contributions may be made in Allan’s honor to UT Southwestern Medical Center to help continue a legacy of scientific discovery, medical care, and education.
