Qi Feng of Plano, Texas passed away on January 7, 2023 at the age of 60. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jean Liu, and his two daughters, Lisa Feng and Katie Feng, along with his father, Wenquan Feng. Qi was preceded in death by his mother, Zhenhui Mo, and his younger sister, Bo Feng.

He was born on October 16, 1962 to Wenquan Feng and Zhenhui Mo in Nanning, China and grew up in Wuhan, China. He attended primary and secondary school on Wuhan University campus, where his parents were both part of the faculty. He went on to attend Wuhan University, where he received his Bachelors in Mathematics in 1985. He continued his graduate education at Wuhan University while serving as an Assistant Professor and obtained his Masters in Economics from the Management School in 1988. In 1989, he received a Ford Foundation scholarship, which provided him the opportunity to pursue his PhD in the United States. He attained his PhD in Economics from The University of Minnesota in 2000. He then pursued a career in Software Engineering and worked at Alliance Data before relocating with his company from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Dallas, Texas in 2002. He moved on to work as a Software Engineer at Electronic Transaction Consulting Company for 15 years.

Qi was a man of many talents who had an adventurous spirit and who wore numerous hats. He was a singer, painter, basketball and ping pong coach, runner, and photographer, among many other hobbies. Furthermore, he was a devoted member of his church, a natural leader in his community, and a loving husband and father at home. No matter his accomplishments in life, Qi was always humble and down-to-earth, and his family and friends knew him as very kind, loyal, giving, and caring. He made sure to make everyone feel welcome and looked after. Qi will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

The family is hosting a visitation for family and friends on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Dallas Chinese Fellowship Church, 2640 Glencliff Drive, Plano, Texas 75075.
