Phyllis June Dixon, lovingly known as “MorMor” passed away peacefully on May 14, 2019, comfortably in her home. She was born on June 9, 1935, to Nelson and Fern Lofstead in Wakeeney, Kansas. MorMor was the oldest of three kids. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. MorMor and her husband, Poppy, served in the United States Air Force and the FAA. She owned and operated Phyllis Dixon, Inc., a wedding consulting business while serving others throughout her life. She served in many roles throughout the years and was always welcoming and loving to all she met. MorMor was a member of PEO, a national service organization and was a founding member of the Conservatory Store. She also faithfully served as an ambassador at the Conservatory Senior Living Community, where she and Poppy made their home the past six years. MorMor believed that serving others quietly and consistently was her calling. As such, she was known for her spirit of serving others in love and kindness. She attended First Christian Church in McKinney where she served as a Deacon and was a long-standing member of a small bible study group. She and Poppy also attended and served Central Christian Church in Texarkana during their years there. MorMor was a faithful member of the Conservatory Church during the last six years of her life and was an Emmaus alumna. The world is a lesser place without her and she will be desperately missed. As someone said, she loved fiercely, and she brought life and light to wherever she was each day. MorMor longed to join Poppy in Heaven, and family and friends take great comfort knowing that she is finally, truly home.
MorMor is survived by her children, Terrye Lee Tyer and husband Ken, Judy Kay Thomas and husband, Jon, and Douglas Alan Dixon and wife, Linda; grandchildren, Kennedy and wife, Jodi, Kaylee June and husband, Zack Springer, Seagren Elizabeth Doran and fiancé, Riaan Crous, Haley Abigail Doran, Charles Cole Thomas, Delaney Leigh, Paul Forrest and wife, Katie Garbarino and Troy Alan Dixon; and one great-grandson, due in July 2019.
