IN LOVING MEMORY

Phyllis Gwenelle Coulter

Jun 26 1947 - Jul 24 2024

Phyllis Gwenelle (James) Coulter, of Pilot Point, Texas passed away July 24, 2024 at the age of 77.  She was born on June 26, 1947, in McKinney, Texas.  Phyllis grew up in Irving, Texas, then Frisco, Texas where she attended Frisco High School. Phyllis met the love of her life, Donald Wayne Coulter. They celebrated their love and commitment to each other on their wedding day, December 13, 1962, in Sherman, Texas.  Over the years, Donald and Phyllis created countless joyful memories while raising their four children, Tony, Ricky, Tonya, and Amie.

Phyllis was a hairdresser and owned and operated Phyllis' Hair Salon for over 42 years, building up a loyal clientele and many long lasting friendships.  Phyllis had a wonderful combination of talents and values. Her gift of hospitality and a servant's heart made her salon not just a place for haircuts, but a welcoming community for her clients. Her love for the Lord and family brought her strength and joy throughout her career, most especially for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. It's clear she made a significant impact both professionally and personally.

Phyllis is survived by her beloved husband Donald Wayne Coulter, of Pilot Point, Texas; sons, Tony Coulter (Shelly), of Pilot Point, Texas and Ricky Coulter (Sherri), of Celina, Texas; daughters, Tonya Anderson (Greg), of Van Alstyne, Texas, and Amie Thompson (Brian), of Nacogdoches, Texas; sixteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends, who will dearly miss her and cherish her memory.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her fathers, Finley Rominger and Murvyn Olif James, mother Retha James, and siblings, Donnie David James, Sheila Lavern Barnes, Jerry Michael James, and Barbara Ann Agnew.
