Philip Martin King, Sr. of McKinney, Texas passed away on July 5, 2018, at the age of 86. He was born on September 27, 1931 to Leech Martin King and Opal Clara (Allen) King in Long Beach, California. Philip was raised in Floydada, Texas. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving for 4 years and receiving an honorable discharge. In 1954, he returned to Denton and entered North Texas State College where he met and married Linda Ann Dickinson. In 1958, Phil entered Officer's Candidate School and received his commission to the United States Navy. He served in Korea and Vietnam then retired in 1975 after serving 25 years.
Philip is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Linda Ann King of McKinney, Texas; daughters, Lesa Seale and husband Chris of Allen, Texas, Brenda Spinelli of McKinney, Texas; son, Philip Martin King, Jr. and wife, Susan of Stanley, Virginia; sister, Cynthia Jackson of Pedley, California; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leech and Opal King; and son, Robert “Marty” Martin King.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013
The family has requested that a donation be made in Phil's name to St. Jude or Shriners Hospitals.
