Philo Hooper Duval, III

Philo Hooper DuVal, III of Fairview, Texas passed away August 15, 2018 at the age of 63. He was born December 24, 1954 to Philo Hooper DuVal Jr. and Corneille (Burt) DuVal in Shreveport, Louisiana. Phil was a 1980 graduate of the University of Wyoming earning a BS in political science. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.  In 1982, Phil moved to Houston, where he began a 25 year career as a commercial lines insurance agent, and later met his wife, Katherine Barkman. They married on October 26, 1991 in Brenham, Texas. Phil was a friend to many, and will be best remembered for his love of living.  He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing.  In late fall, you could always find him in Galveston, where he rarely missed a flounder season.   Among his other interests were music, golf, traveling, and spending time with his friends and family. Phil was happiest when surrounded by people.  A loyal friend, husband, and father, Phil will be profoundly missed and never forgotten. 

He is survived by his wife Kathy DuVal of Fairview, Texas; daughter, Courtney DuVal also of Fairview; brothers, Edward DuVal of Alexandria, Louisiana and Matthew DuVal of Houston, Texas; niece, Nicolle Dalmau and husband Paul of Pioneer, California; nephew, Burt DuVal and wife Natalie of Salt Lake City, Utah; parents-in-law, John and Sherry Barkman of Brenham, Texas; sister-in-law, Jennifer Barkman of McKinney, Texas; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

Phil was preceded in death by his parents. 

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Creekwood United Methodist Church, 261 Country Club Road, Allen, Texas 75002.
